Was checking out Common Sense With Money (a favorite blog of mine!!) and was startled by the following post:

Woah! Here’s a huge moneymaker deal to liven up Memorial Day weekend: CVS has a weekly deal going on when you buy 2 Neutrogena sun care or sunless tanning 0.47-6.7 oz, you get $10 extra care bucks back.  The limit on this deal is one per card. It’s being reportedthat Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 55 1 ounce is working on this deal.  This small tube sells for $1.99 each.  Buy two and pay $3.98 plus tax out of pocket and get $10 ECBs back!!

Now I haven't checked it out yet (planning a CVS run tomorrow, personally) --- so I'm not vouching for it at this point --- but heck --- what do you have to lose??

Price Chopper: Week of 5/11

I know the week is half over, but I'm just getting around to the Price Chopper deals. They haven't been all that enticing of late, so I haven't been as diligent about getting the list done. (not to mention, I've been so crazy busy -- I've had to pick and choose how much shopping I'm actually doing -- and Price Chopper just hasn't been making the cut)
So --- here's my list for Price Chopper this week --- for what its worth.

Fresh Seedless Red Grapes, $.98 lb.
Price Chopper Cheddar Cheese, $2.99
Use $1.00/3 i-saver coupon
Dole Salads, Buy 1 @ 3.49, Get 1 Free

Kraft Salad Dressing, $1.99
Use $1.00/1 Kraft Dressing (can also use $1.50/1 from 5/10 Smart Source insert)
$.99 each

Thomas' English Muffins, $1.29 (1/2 price)

Wesson 64 oz. Vegetable Oil, $3.99
Hunt's Ketchup, $.99
Healthy Choice Soup, $1.39
Peter Pan Peanut Butter, $2.28

Remember: CAT's work on pre-sale prices --- you don't add up the sale prices to get to $20 --- you check the shelf tags and use the regular prices. By the time you take the sale discounts, apply any coupons and then subtract the CAT --- it works out to some amazing deals.
I'm not finding any coupons on the participating items that interest me (there are a few others -- like Chef Boyardee (NOT interested) and Hunts Snack Packs (so NOT interested) -- but it should still make for some cheap pantry essentials.

Here's what I'll be doing at CVS this week --- I'm pretty happy with the sale this week -- there's alot of chatter around the web that this isn't a very good week. In terms of actual product that I need, want and use: not so terrific. But I'm going to be making over $10 this week!! That's a pretty good week in my book.
I'm starting with the Nivea Products. They are on sale this week and I do love them. Earn $5 ECBS when you buy $15 in Nivea Products (Limit 1).

Shop Rite: Week of 5/3

I'm thinking of making a quick stop at ShopRite this week. Here's what's on my list (remember, I never shop at all of the stores available to me. I pick and choose the deals and go from there. This week I have a little extra time available, so I can do a little more picking and choosing)

Hefty One Zip bags $1.00
Use .55 coupon from 3/29/09RP
doubled to $1.10
Final cost: PROFIT $.51

Reynold's Wrap Aluminum Foil 25 sq. ft. $1.00
Use $1.00 coupon from 3/15/09SS

Final cost: PROFIT $.50

Tropicana Orange Juice 89 oz: $2.88 (Wed. - Sat.)
Use $1.00 coupon from 5/3/09RP
Final cost: $1.88

Peter Pan peanut butter $1.88
Use $1.00 coupon from 5/3/09SS
Final cost: $.88

Niagara Spray Starch $.99 (we're out of starch and we actually use it)
Use .25 coupon from 2/22/09SS
double to .50
Final cost: .49

Spray n Wash Laundry Stain Remover $1.99
Use .50 coupon from 5/3/09SS

Eggo Waffles $2.00
Use .75 coupon from 4/5/09RP
double to $1.50
Final cost: .50

Use this B1G1 printable
Final cost: .99 for 2

Colgate Maxwhite Toothbrush .99
Use $1.00 4/19/09SS or 4/26/09SS
Final cost: FREE

So all in all, I figure I'll walk out of ShopRite with a reusable shopping bag full of stuff that we actually use and need and I'll spend just under $5.00 (if I get one of each item -- I'm thinking of getting a couple of the Tropicana and the Peanut Butter. The Tropicana we'll use at our house. The peanut butter is a strong price and I'll donate to the food pantry--- they always appreciate peanut butter. Also, given our usage of spray starch lately, I probably should pick up more than one of those as well. Still, my oop would be quite low)

Stretch Your Dollar Challenge

Personally, I am always up for a challenge. There is just something about someone challenging me to do something that makes it easier to get it done. Maybe I'm overly competitive??
Anyway, IVillage is having a challenge --- Stretch Your Dollar with their expert Mary Hunt (don't know her work all that well, but I guess I'll be learning about it, because I signed up for the challenge --- but you already knew that, didn't you??)
Go to IVillage and give them your email address (you're late already -- the first challenge came out yesterday. Don't obsess about it -- I was late too. I only just finished giving them my email address before I came over here to type this) They'll send you stuff each week for four weeks.
  • 4 weeks of assignments to help you slash costs
  • your questions answered by coach Mary Hunt
  • ideas from thousands of others taking the Challenge

Rite Aid: Week of 5/3

Okay, so I am still not a huge RiteAid gal, but for those of you who live in the land of RiteAid monopoly and keep pestering so nicely: Here it is. If I were going to RiteAid this week (probably not) This is what I'd be doing (or helping you to do) Before you go, print this $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon. It will help to reduce your total --- you'll just need to stack things up so that they total $25 BEFORE the coupons -- don't worry -- I can't remember the last time I actually paid $25 at the drugstore.... We just don't do that!

Do keep in mind, however, that at RiteAid -- we pay them and then we get it back at the end of the month. Be prepared to lay out the cash up front --- just giggle a little, knowing you're getting it all back.

Free Hallmark Card for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up (in case you hadn't noticed) You can create a FREE customized paper card from Hallmark. This is a $3.49 value!

All you need to do is head over to Hallmark, pick out a card that is priced at $3.49 and personalize it. (Watch the price --- this won't work if you pick a card that isn't $3.49, silly) The personalizing is actually kind of fun -- you can play with all kinds of things.

Enter promotional code CARD4MOM when you check out. Your final cost, with shipping and handling, will be $0.

Now, if you're like me, you have a mother and a mother-in-law, both of whom would love cards for Mother's Day and both of whom have a deep appreciation for my skills at hunting down free stuff. So --- there is a second code that will get you a second card --- Wow.
Go to Hallmark and get another free card by using code APRILCARD.

And the best part of all ---- it doesn't have to be a Mother's Day card --- if you need or want to do some other kind of card, they work too.... Have fun. And remember to say "thank you Hallmark" (that was my mom channelling through me!)

Walgreens: Week of 5/3

Walgreens is already frustrating me with their new "concept" for customer loyalty. Remember they did away with the monthly rebate program, and increased their Register Reward deals. It was supposed to be better for us as customers. HAH!! Based on the first week, that is. We'll see if it gets better. Essentially, Walgreens didn't think that putting FREE all over the pages of their flyer was going to make the average person come into the store and buy that product. Why do I say that??? Because by Monday morning most of the stores near me were completely OUT of the free after RR items --- and they were NEVER restocked during the week.
So -- we'll give Walgreens another try this week (because when its good, its very, very good) -- but they might join Walmart and Target on my list of "not worth the time and trouble because the deal probably won't work out". We'll see.
