Walmart: Week of 7/25

Walmart has the same lunchbox deal that I mentioned at Target. 

I’ll be on the lookout both places, only because I’m going to be in Walmart using up my $2/1 Pampers wipes coupons from the 6/6 PG (they expire 7/31, so I’m in a hurry)  Walmart sells them for $1.97 – so FREE

I know, I know, --- I don’t do diaper deals – but someone I love uses these like crazy in the car for cleaning hands – and we use them occasionally to take paint off older hands so I’m stocking up --- Free is free, after all.

$20 Thanksgiving Dinner at Walmart

Most of you know that I am so NOT a Walmart fan.  I don’t often shop there and I don’t recommend deals there (for a lot of reasons – none of which are the point of this post) 

Most of you also know that I have very strong feelings about being charitable.  Especially for those of us who are blessed with being able to obtain food and household products for our families with little money out of pocket.  We are blessed, you know.  And I hold that with each blessing comes an obligation --- to bless someone else. 

So as we approach Thanksgiving and thinking about giving – why on earth does my mind wander over to Walmart??  Well, this time, Walmart is doing something good.  Something really good.  Something that will make it easier for those who chose to give not only thanks but to give someone else something to be thankful for too.

Starting November 4th, Walmart is offering the opportunity to purchase complete Thanksgiving meal for right at $20.

This is a list of common ingredients for a real old-fashioned Thanksgiving dinner – the kind your grandma used to make. If this is something your family needs this season --- rush right over to Walmart and give thanks --- If (like mine) your family is pretty well set for Thanksgiving but would love to make it better for someone else – then rush right over to Walmart and give thanks too. 

Here’s the deal  $20 for all of this:

One 12-pound Grade A turkey*

Three 11 to 15.5-ounce cans Green Giant vegetables

Two 14-ounce cans Ocean Spray cranberry sauce

Three 6-ounce boxes of Stove Top stuffing

One 5-pound bag of red potatoes

One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls

One 22-ounce pumpkin roll cake

*Turkeys are being offered at 40 cents/pound so if you go up or down on the turkey, the final price will go up or down as well. 

See you at Walmart?? (I can’t believe I said that!)

This will surely bless alot of people and give them a lot to be thankful for.

Free Soap!!!

Who doesn't like free soap??? We all use soap, don't we???
Well, thank you Proctor and Gamble for providing free soap for all of us who are savvy enough to be paying attention ---
In the 4/5 P&G insert there is a $2 off Olay bar soap (When you look at the coupon, you wont' think it is good on soap, but if you check the tiny print all the way through, it IS!!).
The Olay 2-pack bar soap sells for about $1.97 at Walmart so you could get it for FREE with the coupon.
And, Target, Stop & Shop, Price Chopper and Shaw's sell the 2-packs for about $2.29-$2.49 so you could get it really cheap at these stores as well after the $2 coupon!
This is one of those times when you're glad if you have multiple copies of that week's insert. Soap is easy to stockpile -- it doesn't take much space, it doesn't spoil and you know you'll use it.

Target and Walmart Week of 4/5

I usually don't play at either Target or Walmart --- Target is a pain to get in and out of where I am --- and Walmart is sneaky. Walmart prices items very differently in different stores, depending on what they think the market will bear. That means that when I price something in one Walmart, it may not hold in another Walmart. I also means that whatever shoppers are posting about on the web may also not hold for me (usually doesn't). That gets frustrating really, really fast. I shop well enough at CVS, Walgreeens, and the grocery stores, that I don't need Walmart most of the time. Occasionally a deal shows up that's good enough for me to spend the time and energy getting there --- and risking the frustration if its a dud.....
This week is kind of like that for both Target and Walmart. So --- if you're game, here's what interests me..... (play at your own risk!!)

Wal-Mart has 2-packs of Olay soap priced at $1.97. Use the $2/1 coupon from Sunday's P&G insert (April 5, 2009), to get these free!
They also have McCormick Seasoning packets priced around $0.50-$1. There was a $1/1 McCormick Seasoning coupon in this past Sunday's paper (4/5) which will make those free as well.
In the same paper, (4/5) there was a coupon for $1 off any Vitamin Water. These are on sale for $1 at both Wal-Mart and Target this week making them free.

Healthy Eating --- the Budget Way

Nothing is more fundamentally budget bonvivant than getting fresh, healthy food for pennies. We work hard at eating healthily at my house -- and it isn't always easy. Truth be told, our love of fresh, healthy, and fine food is probably a primary impetus for me learning to shop this way. If I'm not paying money for shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant --- well, I figure that money can go toward arugula, goat cheese, and pumpkin ravioli (three very big favorites at our house).
But when I can get fresh, good food for pennies -- that really floats my boat.
And thanks to Target and Walmart -- I can do that this week. Here's the scoop:
You can get a bag of Dole salad for a measly $.19. Yes, you read that correctly --- NINETEEN CENTS!!! Target has released a fresh batch of coupons this week. In those coupons, there was one for $1.00 off of a bag of Dole salad. (yep, click the link to go to it) If you buy the 6 ounce bag, and use this coupon --- you end up paying only $.19 for the bag of salad. This is one of those times, when the larger size isn't really the bargain. You can repeat this deal as many times as you can print the coupon and carry the salad out of the store.
If you picked up a newspaper last Sunday, then you can also put your hands on cheap salad dressing at Wal-Mart this week.
There was a $1.50 0ff coupon in one of the inserts. This salad dressing is priced at $1.58 at Wal-Mart this week. Use the coupon with the sale and you have $.08 salad dressing. At this price, you can stockpile salad dressing and have it ready for lunch for the next 6 months or so.

Need Pantyhose?? Free??

I found a super note online at PennyPinchingDiva about FREE Ultra Sheer pantyhose at Wal-Mart.

In this Sunday's SmartSource coupon insert, there was a $1.00 off coupon for any No Nonsense product.

At Wal-Mart they have the Ultra Sheer pantyhose priced at $1.00. That is the REGULAR price for these pantyhose, NOT the sale price.

When you combine the coupon with the price, you have free pantyhose.

A Thrifty Mom is also reporting that her packages of pantyhose contained another coupon for $1 off.
